The Equipment Operator will be based at our Fernley plant, located 24 miles East of Fernley on I-80 at exit 65, and report directly to the Process Supervisor. This position is responsible for the following activities:
Operate various types of heavy equipment for minor excavation and movement of diatomaceous earth, dirt, rock, sand and other raw materials.
Receive and carry out written and oral instructions from supervisor regarding material to move or excavate.
Fluidly and effectively move machine, create and move stockpiles and an ability to dig, lift, swing and dump contents of shovel into truck, car, conveyor, hopper or stockpile
Responsible for the safe operation of equipment, follow all traffic rules on and off the company property.
Responsible for the understanding and communication of daily requirements
Meet and exceed productivity standards in a timely manner and adapts to changes in the work environment.
Maintain radio contact with Supervisor to receive instructions.
Inspect equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and water.
Perform routine maintenance (lubing of equipment) on an as-needed basis.
Perform manual labor such as shovel cleanup work.
Inspect equipment for defects before, during and after shifts and submits report indicating equipment condition.
Follow all federal and state safety regulations and company safety policies/procedures.
Keep the equipment clean and presentable.
Perform equipment maintenance as required.
The Equipment Operator will approach this role as a strong business partner to the Plant and Mine. This is a GRAVEYARD position. The successful candidate will possess prior heavy equipment operator experience:
A high school diploma/GED;
The ability to work with a high degree of autonomy;
Strong attention to detail;
Excellent operation and safety record;
Consistently at work and on time; meet schedules and deadlines on time;
Gather and analyze information skillfully and with alternate solutions in mind when necessary;
Demonstrate the ability to adapt to changes in the work environment;
Up to date knowledge of laws and compliance regulations;
Must be able to work graveyard shift (11 pm-7:30 am) and day shift for training (7 am-3:30 pm).
