JT4 Computer Operator in Las Vegas, Nevada

JOB SUMMARY - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

Under general supervision set up, operate and monitor complex computer operations and peripheral equipment used to process business, engineering or scientific data.

  • Interpret program requirements, audit auxiliary peripheral units to ascertain correctness of input data, and check condition and arrangement of tapes

  • Gather data for various reports required by accounting and management or for engineering/scientific applications

  • Compile programs for programmers as required

  • Organize the input and output of data from the computer

  • Investigate and locate source of non-standard irregularities; analyze and recover program operations in complex error situations

  • Assists with support to investigate, troubleshoot, and contribute to design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software

  • Write minor operational programs

  • Assist in the maintenance and inventory control of computer equipment

  • Comply with computer operation standards and procedures

  • Provide technical support to computer users and organize sequence of events in computer operation cycle

  • Provide general maintenance and installation support of computer equipment

  • Perform other related tasks and duties as directed

WORKING CONDITIONS

Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Vocational/technical or military equivalent training beyond high school and a minimum of 3 years of job-related experience. Excellent communications and analytical skills; demonstrated working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs. The incumbent may be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance and possess a valid state issued driver's license.
