Robert Half Finance has a client in the Public Transport industry seeking an ambitious, enthusiastic Controller to join their esteemed company. This is a leadership role with responsibility over an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, your tasks will include planning and directing all accounting operational functions, managing the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assessing accounting and internal control systems, and guiding departmental staff. The Controller will be a full-time employment opportunity and will be located in the Las Vegas, Nevada region.

What you get to do every single day

  • Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual

  • Able to perform additional tasks beyond formal job duties

  • Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash

  • Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Assess deliverables of self and team to verify they meet client expectations

  • Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports

  • Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis

  • Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed

  • Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • CPA/MBA preferred

  • Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus

  • Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

  • Corporate Financial Planning experience highly preferred

  • Foundational knowledge in Annual Financial Reporting

  • Background working with Develop Financial Models

  • Good understanding of FASB (financial accounting standards board)

  • Hands-on experience with Financial Consolidation

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Statutory Financial Reporting

  • Adeptness in Audited Financial Statements

  • Prepare Financial Reports experience highly desired

  • Expertise in financial reporting

  • Strong familiarity with Annual Audited Financial Statements

  • Financial auditing experience highly desired

  • General familiarity with Complex Financial Models

  • Financial Records experience desired

  • Practical knowledge of Consolidated Financial Statements

  • Earlier work involving External Financial Reports

  • Financial reconciliation experience preferred

  • Prior experience with Month-end Close Activities

  • Previous experience working with financial analysis

  • Foundational knowledge in Monthly Financial Reports

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Complex Financial Analysis

  • Experience with Financial Close Process

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Ad Hoc Financial Analysis

  • Comprehension of Financial Audits

  • Adeptness in SEC Financial Reporting

  • Financial Arrangements experience highly valued

  • Analyze Financial Statements experience preferred

  • Proficiency in Monthly Financial Reporting

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Self-starter and strong ethical standards

  • Extraordinary analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines

  • Be detailed, flexible, and organized

  • Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued

  • Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
