MDU Resources Group Plumbing Estimator in Las Vegas, Nevada

Job Summary:

Responsible for making our #1 critical success factor, safety first, a priority in all tasks and activities performed by self and all others involved. Prepare complete plumbing and mechanical piping estimates for assigned project(s) of varying size and complexity.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man hour figures. 2. Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate. 3. Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff for scope of work. 4. Coordinate total estimating effort relevant to particular bid/project as assigned. 5. Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimates and figures. 6. Interface with owner, A/E, and other contractors to provide engineering and cost data regarding project feasibility. 7. Follow awarded contracts as assigned – may include estimating extra work items, change orders, credits; procuring material, etc. 8. This position is required to drive. 9. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Educational and experience requirements include: Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or experience with plumbing and mechanical piping systems. Preference will be granted to individuals with a plumbing and mechanical piping estimation background. Advanced knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control, plus the ability to interpret cost data is essential. Must have safe driving record and a valid driver’s license according to legal requirements.

Key Skills & Competencies

Requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and complete projects on schedule. Advanced knowledge and skills in the use of various Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills are essential.
