UnitedHealth Group Radiation Therapist / Radiation Technologist- Oncology - Las Vegas, NV in Las Vegas, Nevada

Provide radiation treatments to patients as prescribed by a Radiation Oncologist according to established practices and standards. Duties may include reviewing prescription and diagnosis; actin as liaison with physician and patient support staff. Preparing equipment and maintain records, reports and files. Performs needed assessment, care and treatment for a patient population.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Administer prescribed doses of radiation to specific body parts, using radiation therapy equipment according to established practices and standards. Uses independent judgment and applies learned methodologies according to established policies and procedures

  • Position patients for treatment with accuracy, according to prescription

  • Follow principles of radiation protection for patient, self and others

  • Review prescription, diagnosis, patient chart and identification. Prepares and maintains all accurate documentation of patient records

  • Conduct most radiation treatment independently, in accordance with the treatment plan and under the general direction of radiation oncologist

  • Educate patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatments to be performed

  • Demonstrates professional behavior/conduct in all interactions; fosters teamwork, efficient use of resources and quality patient outcomes

  • Monitor patients throughout the course of treatments for general physical conditions

Required Qualifications:

  • ARRT Certification or ability to obtain

  • 6+months experience as Radiation Therapist

  • Experience using Varian equipment

  • Experience using Eclipse system

  • Experience using Trubeam

  • Experience HDR Brachytherapy
