Mission Support and Test Services, LLC Fire Protection Engineer I in Mercury, Nevada

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering Program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Graduate research experience may be recognized.

  • Knowledge of fire protection system related instrumentation & control, electrical, mechanical or electromechanical components.

  • Demonstrate desire to learn and innovate.

  • Demonstrate ability to follow instructions and procedures.

  • Be self-motivated and able to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.

  • Strong time-management skills.

  • Well organized, maintain safe work habits and have a broad range of technical interests and education.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write reports and technical documents.

  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Department of Energy Q clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, "Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites," will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, "Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.

Eligibility Requirements - To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, "Personnel Security."

Responsibilities

You will serve as a Fire Protection Engineer within the MSTS Nuclear Asset Operations (NAO) Directorate.you will contribute to solutions of fire protectionat forward facilities at the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). As an integral part of the NAO team, you will collaborate with external and internal partners to attain desired success states and sustain operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to solutions of fire protection system related problems using a well-defined set of technologies.

  • Ensure compliance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes and standards.

  • Prepare or contribute to designs, strategies, reports and technical proposals.

  • Perform design and technical analysis activities using prescribed codes and standards, computer software, and generally accepted best management practices.

  • Perform frequent coordination of discipline information with other departments within the company and with outside vendors.

  • Work with outside vendors as required, obtaining relevant information.

  • Develop a working knowledge of codes and standards of other disciplines.

  • Coordinate work effectively within discipline on assigned projects.

  • Define specifications for procurements and initiates purchase requests.

  • Understand the principles associated with the Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) safety concept.

  • Participate in and embrace MSTS environment, safety, health, and quality initiatives.
