Manufactured Housing Inspectors are responsible for the Statewide inspection of manufactured homes, commercial coaches, mobile homes, mobile home parks and other manufactured buildings upon installation; the review of construction plans and specifications for manufactured buildings; the inspection and certification of the facilities, production and quality control processes of manufactured building manufacturers; the enforcement of code and regulatory compliance for projects involving manufactured structures; and the investigation of complaints against manufactured housing dealers, manufacturers, servicepersons and mobile home parks.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is with the Department of Business & Industry, Housing Division in Las Vegas. The Manufactured Housing Inspector I will report to the Supervisor of Inspections. The position duties include: performing field inspections; review and approve construction and project plans; create and maintain reports relating to inspection activities; assist in the investigation of complaints against licensees and the resolution of abatement complaints; various projects related to inspection activities; managing the control of certification labels and certificates; act as a liaison between the Division and contracted inspectors; and perform other duties as assigned by Divison management. * THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Associate's degree from an accredited college, university or trade school in the building trades, fire science, or closely related field; OR two years of experience as a general construction contractor, a plans examiner or building inspector in a local government entity, or a quality assurance inspector in a manufactured housing plant; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
