Intuit Group Manager, Risk Operations Excellence in Reno, Nevada

The Risk Operations team supports SBSEG by protecting Intuit and our Small Business Customers from financial losses resulting from fraud or credit risk. What you'll bring

  • 7-10+ years of experience leadings teams in a large scale operations organization to define and drive process and system improvements. Fintech, online banking, or software development environment preferred.

  • A coach that loves developing people, embraces empowerment, accountability, and a high performance culture creating a team that is constantly seeking new ways to deliver value and a better customer experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix environment and ability to both influence and develop strong partnerships at all levels from executive leaders to front line employees, as well as cross functional teams like audit, legal, engineering, and product management.

  • Customer obsessed with a track record of designing and delivering radical transformation in operational processes (using tools like BPR), guiding the organization through change, and of succeeding in a complex and changing environment.

  • Process Excellence mindset, with experience leveraging process excellence tools and frameworks (e.g. LEAN, Six Sigma, TQM).

  • Strong program management skill set to drive many interrelated initiatives to completion.

  • Strong money movement domain expertise, including any of the following areas: fintech, payments, lending, or banking

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of risk management practices: experience in identifying, assessing, managing and reporting risks

  • Excellent communication skills, including business writing and presentations. Uses data to create and tell a story that motivates, inspires, and ultimately galvanizes others to create and then implement innovative and best in class improvements.

  • Collaborative, reliable, highly analytical partner with an ability to make data-driven decisions and to translate identified opportunities into compelling business insights and actionable plans.

· Earned an undergraduate degree in a technical, math, or science discipline required; MBA or advanced degree in information systems or business processes design preferred

How you will lead

The ideal candidate will have a background in fintech or online banking and will demonstrate an exceptional balance of four critical competencies: program management, product development, operational rigor in a risk management environment, and developing high performing teams.

  • Leadership: Lead a team of senior managers and their direct staff to identify, design, and deliver supporting tools, education, and processes enabling our risk operations organization. Develop high performing teams by understanding and facilitating team dynamics, recognizing and developing great talent, recommending areas for improvement, and ensuring consistency in thoughts and actions. Always lead by example.

  • Objective: This role is in support of the teams who manage manual risk detection processes, however, it also requires balancing business goals and our small business customer needs. In collaboration with the risk process leaders, enable risk operations activities that power SBSEG. Actively partner in defining the future state vision for risk operations, and drive transformational improvement scaling operations to support new products and significant customer growth. Identify risks and operational needs in new policies or product features, and work across the organization to ensure those risks are contained, effectively mitigated, or removed prior to launch.

  • Product development: Your teams serve as the primary technical liaison for risk operations with cross functional product management and engineering teams. Your teams deeply understand the outcome of the work, and design new streamlined, simplified, and durable ways to deliver them. Collaborate to ensure processes work across multiple stakeholders. Document requirements and ensure alignment with both technical details and design. Manage user acceptance testing, develop communication plans, analyst training and roll out materials. Collect feedback on bugs and enhancements, and work to continually refine and deliver a better experience.

  • Program management: Develop and own the plans to execute on the system, process, and tool plans to meet our declared vision. Develop and manage multiple roadmaps and backlogs to ensure our organization immediately knows where we stand, what's coming up, and what isn't a high enough priority (yet) to be worked. This includes not only operations requirements for product features and enhancements, but also our tools and supporting plans like education, quality assurance, etc. Manage the systems used to track, collaborate, and communicate on requirements. Actively monitor, analyze, and report on the effectiveness to these systems to continually drive improvements in your team’s processes.

  • Risk management: Develop operational systems and processes while working in a risk management environment. Find the optimal balance between external money movement risks and internal operational risks. Leverage experience in the Fintech space to guide decision making when trades off are required.

  • How you lead: Proactively collaborate with risk operations leadership and leaders across the organization to learn about new risks, capitalize on new opportunities, remove roadblocks, and ensure effective execution to meet all KPIs. Your communication and supporting documentation are crisp, articulate, and compelling. You have a talent for using data and the customer experience to ground your partners in what's important and develop compelling business cases. You are a champion and an advocate for what matters most. You love solving multidimensional problems so that the tools, systems and processes your teams build are durable and can be used by multiple product lines and teams. You are a connector, bringing people together, and you believe in the power of the team, and that partnerships are critical to our success.
