Position Purpose

This position sits with patients on Suicide/Behavioral watch to prevent self-harm. In addition Patient Services Technicians will transport patients and equipment within Renown Regional Medical Center and professional centers as well as within Northern Nevada and western States areas.

Nature and Scope

This position is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of patients and equipment throughout Renown Health and professional centers as well as within Northern Nevada and Western States areas. As well as conducting a safety watch in a patient’s room to prevent self-harm or harm to others.

The incumbent will be required to assist nursing staff in transferring patient to and from gurneys, wheelchairs and beds in a timely and consistent manner. The incumbent must also place telemetry monitors on patient in the appropriate position for remote heart monitoring. The incumbent will be expected to provide basic levels of assistance to the patients that they are assigned to.

The incumbent must possess ability to evaluate patient transportation and disposition priorities. Communication in a professional and caring manner with patients, police, fire, REMSA personnel, Special Event staff and all other hospital customers is required.

The incumbent must possess a polite, positive attitude while dealing with customers of all ages, social, cultural and economic backgrounds. As well as caring and professional communication with patients and family members.

Incumbent must demonstrate the ability to work with Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric patient's needs specific to the population being served, and meets standards of quality as measured by the Department age specific competency standard.

The position is accountable to operate cell phones, pagers, designated Renown Health motor vehicles and other emergency medical equipment in accordance with state, city, FCC and Renown Health Policy and Procedure. Unusual circumstances, complicated situations, and out of the ordinary decisions will be referred to the Supervisor.

The incumbent must be able to function autonomously in a high intensity atmosphere and make appropriate decisions pertaining to quality patient care as well as personal and patient safety. The incumbent must demonstrate the desire to promote a healing and caring environment.

If applicable, the incumbent must validate necessary skills to function safety and competently in patient observation using tele-sitter equipment to remotely monitor multiple patients simultaneously.

The Telesitter duties include but are not limited to- Use of the AvaSys TeleSitter solution software. Maintaining visual observation at all times. Verbally redirecting patient over digital 2-way audio device. Immediately summoning staff if the patient requires assistance.

This position does provide patient care.

Description

Education:

Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English.

Experience:

Patient / healthcare related experience preferred.

License(s):

Valid State of Nevada or California driver's license and ability to pass Renown Health's Department of Motor Vehicle Report criteria.

Certification(s):

Current AHA BLS course within 30 days of hire. CPI accreditation and a patient mobility course within 90 days of hire.

Computer / Typing:

Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
