General Summary

This position is responsible for collaborating with a group of business units to develop and execute supply strategies for asphalt and emulsions that provide competitive, stable supply consistent with company strategies, risk management objectives and corporate policies.

Essential Job Accountabilities

  1. Develop and implement annual supply strategy for asphalt and emulsions in conjunction with each business unit. Managing and adjusting the strategy throughout the year to establish stable supply.
  2. Secure supply (provide advisory services for business units to secure or negotiate volume, price, payment terms, etc. for A&E managed supply) consistent with strategies and forecasts, price supply to the branches when necessary, and manage long/short position to ensure competitive, stable supply.
  3. Lead development and implementation of an asphalt storage strategy to secure advantaged supply.
  4. Provide technical expertise in the asphalt & emulsions quality control segment to ensure superior quality of products.
  5. Develop and maintain a strong understanding of asphalt and emulsions supply and demand fundamentals to enable excellent supply decisions and job bid advice.
  6. Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with internal customers (business unit personnel, accounting, etc.) evidenced by consistent positive customer feedback upholding company polices.
  7. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key asphalt suppliers to enable execution of our strategies.

Education

  • BS in Business, Economics or Engineering or equivalent experience

Work Experience

  • 7 years of relevant experience
  • Asphalt supply experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong strategic thinking
  • Ability to analyze options, understand risks and make recommendations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work well with others and build consensus
  • Ability to establish processes/procedures and properly manage and prioritize resources and projects

  • Team player, who can operate effectively within a matrix management environment
  • Strong consultative and communication skills and ability to interface effectively with all levels of management
  • Ability to work in high production environment and respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines
  • Proven proficiency of MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively disseminate information
